I need to shut down the forum so none of the files are accessed, including inc_func_common, which appears in down.asp.

Where can I place a redirect to my own message page so that nothing is loaded?

Replace default.asp ?

Or depending on the order of your default documents, place a (temp) default.htm there or something.

Also depends on if users have bookmarked other pages as well. The simple way would be to rename your forum folder, then create another folder with the same name as what your forum folder used to be, then have a custom error page for that folder. That way you are not going to have users going to any Snitz files.

I would be asking your host what has changed their end if nothing has changed with your code before closing it down but. I have been running my multiple Snitz forums on the same host for a couple of years now and added quite a few MODs and they have never complained about the resources the sites use. Before that, I was hosting myself, but the ISP would go offline too much.

Cheers,

David Greening

Thanks!

I would agree with classic, renamimg the forum directory is the best way and also commenting out the connection string line in config.asp will stop it executing any queeries.

You may find that you can not plug your memory leak (ADO has some built in that you can do nothing about ) so may need to look for a more accomodating host, but the only sure way is to start back with a standard snitz to rule out any mods being the problem.

I'm on CT if anyone knows what that means. I bring it up b/c a lot of people here are on it and they haven't reported any leaks.

Is there a known leak with the base version? After I removed my version the leak apparently stopped. I'm waiting for another update on the memory usage to confirm this. If it is indeed the forum that is causing this, I think it was actually from my own work on it last July, but that's just speculation at this point. Once the host confirms that the leak has stopped, I'm going to install the base version fresh and see what happens.

There are no leaks in the base code that we are aware of, and we would have found any by now, I host a lot of Snitz forums on my servers
