My host is warning me about my physical memory usage at 139MB to 200MB. I've spent the past two days trouble-shooting and I do not have any smoking gun. I dismissed the forum as the cause of this because most of my users don't use it and if you guys spotted a memory leak it would have been fixed long ago.
My site averaging an increase of 10k users per month. Right now I have 70,000 users (not unique) per month. Unique users are about 30-40k.
Next month, I'll probably have 80k visitors if the trend increases.
This is small as far as I've been concerned. I see this as small growth and I know many people here have many more visitors than I do.
I'm on a shared server and I cannot figure out what could be leaking memory (or using it for a better term, perhaps).
I'm now exploring the forum Application Variables. Could these in any way be contributing to this problem? Any advice is GREATLY appreciated, even if you think I've thought of it.

Check the MODs that you have added - make sure the open & close for every recordset is there.
Also, which database do you use ?
I had a huge problem a while ago (while I was still on Access), and fixed it just by checking open/close and a few other things. Cleaning the code helped ... for a few months. |

| I use MSSQL Server. It might not be the forum. I just don't know yet...I'm going to take it down for a couple of hours and see. |

is rather excessive even for a busy forum, especially an SQL one, do you have a link to your forum so we can take a look ?
From the look of your app variables you have a lot of mods installed, it may be worth just running the standard forum code just to make sure, but ny gues would be one of the mods causing the problem

That's what I'm doing. I took the forum down and the leak has stopped but I think it was from my own work from last July that did this, not the base code or the mods. My host hasn't confirmed definitively if the leak has stopped yet so this story could change.
When and if they do confirm, I'm installing a fresh version w/o mods to see what happens. |
