On trying to update my profile (change email address)on my setup at http://www.clarknet.biz/forum I received the following error. "Your request was not sent due to the following error: The transport failed to connect to the server."
Any advice on what might be wrong?

No, I can't get any of the email functions to work. I tried using the password reminder function as well and that didn't send. However, in that case I didn't get an error message.

The problem is precisely that. If you want to avoid the error while updating the profile, turn email validation off, edit the profile and then turn it on again, even if it doesn't make much sense to have email validation if email does not work.
Have you correctly specified your email server and admin email address? |

Many thanks and I'll try that, but I guess my main issue is with the fact that the email system doesn't work at all. I've also been progressing the problem with my server admin and they gave me a CDOSYS script that I could use to make sure that CDOSYS and the setting work on the server. So I'm fairly sure that the email and email server are correct. It is quite frustrating as I've been asked to set up this forum for a charity web site. Any help on other options would be greatly appreciated, or even get someone to set it up for me, for a fee if necessary.

Brilliant. In gathering the information to send to you, I found out the problem. I'd used SMTP@hostname.com rather than SMTP.hostname.com. Thanks for you help, which obviously made me think more focused.
Thanks Dave |
