When someone tries to logon to create a profile they get a message:

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a005e'

Invalid use of Null: 'cLng'

/forum/inc_func_common.asp, line 900

When I check the profile there is a Title field that is not visible to them when registering.

Help please

Are you using a MySQL database by any chance? If so, see the sticky in the MySQL forum.

Search is your friend

no we are using MS SQL server

I have checked all the admin option configurations and there is no "Title" anywhere.

Why is it showing up when I check their profile, and then if I enter member, user or anything it works o.k. If there is nothing in this field they can't post.

By default, 'Title' is a field that the Admin can use to give a specific title to a specific member ("Guitar Guru" as opposed to the usual "Starting Member", "Advanced Member", etc.). That is why you see it and they don't. I don't think this is where your problem lies.

Have you added any MODs or made any changes?

(BTW, please don't post your question in multiple areas. Let the other thread fall away and continue here.)

Could it be that you changed your db from Access to MS SQL or done any other upgrades?

sorry about the double post, I wasn't sure which one to use. Thanks for letting me know.

yes we did MODs

modified by adding a new category and topics and deleted the default category and topics

Have customized the forum settings and member settings

So...the title is the admins way of authorizing someone to use the forum?

No. Title is just a way for the Admins to give someone a special title. For instance, over at the Warsong Records forum I've given the band members special titles. One day when we get more people I may give them serious titles ... nah.

As to the rest, which MODs did you add?

Didn't add any mods.

Is there something I should do in admin to automatically send an email that their registration is activated?

People are trying to post right away, but I have figured out that I have to go in as admin and activate. The only way it seems to work is if I type in member in the title area. Then I submit and go back into their profile and send them an email that they are activated and go ahead and post.
Is this the right way?
What does it mean to make a topic sticky?
Is there a manual for all this?

You didn`t need to add a title to the member details, like AnonJr said, it`s just a way of naming someone. i.e. Shaggy has a title of "Support Moderator" here in this forum.

With the activation process. You have activated, that your members need to certify their mail address and you, as Admin, need to allow their account (Pending Members in the Administration).
You can disable this feature in the Administration -> Mail Server Configuration.

Sticky Topics: A sticky topic is pinned before all other "normal" topics when viewing all the topic in the forum view (forum.asp).

As for the manual. There isn`t a documentation for Snitz except the FAQs in the forum itself, the info gained here itself and the thing you get on a setup forum when clicking on the question mark icon in the different views.

thanks Rasco...

I read on the FAQ boards that people who sign up, are notified by an email that they are registered.
How do I make this happen?

Also nothing is showing up in the "Read" colum. How come?

I think, the notification is standard behavior, if the mail feature is enabled.

What`s with your Read column? Is it blank?
Do you have a link to your forum?

So, step by step....

Have you done any changes to the forum, added any MODs (except doing the usual stuff like adding categories or changing something via the administration)? If not (and you said, that you didn`t ;-) ), you should update your forum to the current version 3.4.05 (you`re running 3.4.03)

What a pickle - 'Invalid use of Null: 'cLng' ' suggests to me that there's a null somewhere expecting to have a numeric value - is this problem still live?
