Hi Folks,
I'm coming up on my 10th wedding anniversary and I'm trying to decide what kind of gift to buy my wife.
Anyone with any ideas? I've been browsing Tiffany.com, but anything that looks nice, my bank account dislikes. |

If you don't pay for it now... you'll "pay for it" later. |

Most women I know will kill their husbands if they recieve any type of household appliance for an annivesary, birthday, valentine or christmas gift. If it is from their children then its okay. So ask your kids to give it to her! |

Yeah mate .. playing with fire there. Most women expect some thought to have gone into the gift selection process so it becomes a 'personal' gift from you to her. PITA, gift vouchers are ruled out too.
I'm in the same boat, if I think of anything I'll share. Bluddy hard. |

I found out the best thing to do when pleasing your woman:
[1] Make a stash. This is a place where your wife will never go but it is safe, clean and accessible. The location should be like the attic, garage, basement or anywhere else your wife may be scared to go. The more fear she has of it the better. Also make this stash hidden and out of sight as it will hold all the gifts may find for her.
[2] Anytime you are shopping, walking in the mall, going anywhere with friends, etc; If you see a gift you think she will like BUY IT THEN NOT LATER. Even if your anniversary is 5 months away. Rushing a gift will only get you thrown in the dog house. Once you buy your gift, fix it up nicely so it doesn't look like garbage when you go back to it months later. This means if it should get damp in your area maybe wrap it in plastic or box it up.
[3] Never keep the reciepts with the gifts, keep that elsewhere. Failsafe just incase wifey finds your stash. Why keep the reciept? Maybe your wife might not fit that coat you bought her a few months ago. Perhaps during 5 months she hints to you a few things and then "UT OH!" you realize you bought her that. Returned!
[4] Don't just buy one gift and think your safe. Keep buying them until you have like 3-4 so you can always choose the best during that special occassion.
You've just been schooled! Hope this helps. |

How about a decent holiday away from home, family, kids, jobs and just go somewhere nice to spend time together! If you can organise it as a surprise, or at least throw in a few false leads ('oh we're just going to a little B&B' when you mean 'oh, I'm taking you to the airport for a week in Langkawi'). Goes down a storm, just check the passports/visas position ;-)
PS - don't know about yours, but mine always likes jewellery - either flashy costume jewellery or something small and tasteful. |

hehehe. you might not reach your 11th anniversary if you buy her that washing machine after all.
Years ago my dad bought my mum a swing bin for her birthday. disaster !
Last year a friend of mine bought his missus a car cleaning kit for xmas - a bucket, sponge, shampoo, bug remover sachets and a chamois, it came as a gift set from halfords. He decided to split up the gift set and wrap everything up separately. Thinking she was in for a treat with lots of presents, she was not impressed when she first unwrapped a sponge !! ho ho ho.
Zuel, a stash of presents?! Thats sounds far to organised. What happened to the last minute dash to the petrol station for a bunch of flowers? |

Bah your killing me. I usually go through life observing, how I take the best paths to most situtations.
I have bad memory I really can't remember any birthdays except my own. So in most cases I forgot to set it on my PC or w/e. There is a good chance I forgot. It just looks better when your wife brings it up and you still show up with a wrapped gift without leaving the house. |

I hired a chef to come to the house, as well as a live pianist. Then while they were preparing, I picked my wife up from work, took her to the mall, and let her pick out a new outfit, complete with shoes. Then, for some odd reason, before we "went out" to dinner, I made some excuse why we needed to swing back by the house. She was stunned when she walked in to the live music and awesome smells of a five course dinner. It wasn't that expensive, and it made an impression she will never forget.
