Ok. I have searched and searched, maybe I am missing something or maybe I have been staring at my screen for too long.
I have installed ActiveUsers Mod and want to install the Poll Mod now. My question is:
Some of the ASP files were modified with ActiveUsers. Now I have to upload files from Poll Mod (which have changes already from the author), wont this overwrite the ASP files I already edited under ActiveUsers (ex...active.asp, default.asp etc...)? I have been trying to logically think this through but my brain keeps farting on me.
Long story short, won't the changes I made for ActiveUsers be lost? I know this cant be possible, but need some clarification, thats all. How do I go about "joining" the two mods? |

Once you have added a MOD, then any other MODS you add, need to take in to account the existing MODS. If I remember correctly Davio has pretty good instructions on adding the Poll MOD, including if you already have the Active users MOD installed. Have a look at the read me it should explain all.
Most MODS come with an explanation that if this is being added to a native Snitz forum (unmodified) then you can just overwrite the existing files, otherwise follow the instructions in the read me. Oh yea, make sure you back up all your existing files before you start any MOD. |

Thanks, I'll have another look at the read_me. Thanks for the quick reply.
Added: Just found it in the read_me. He includes the whole file, but I need to just copy/paste the Poll_Mod labeled sections into each of my existing ASP files. |

This is also something that will happen every time you want to install a MOD from now on as well. Most MOD authors are gracious enough to include instructions on what code to add/change and where. The only time you'll ever want to simply upload a file included is if it is new or the version you have is still unaltered. |

Even if you have not previously edited a file you are instructed to edit in a mod's readme, it is still not recommended that you upload any pre-modded files included in a zip over yours unless the redame specifically states that the file is for the same forum version as you are running and that no other changes have been made to it. Oftentimes, a mod author will include files form their own forums with other mods applied simply as a guide to help you apply the mod or a mod will have be written for a previous version of the forums and, while it may still work with your version, the file you are being instructed to edit may have been altered between that version and the version you are running.
