Where is the guide for upgrading Access to MSQL ?
The title says it all.

Ok, the upgrade went well - no problems (except one, read below) - and the forum is really fast now, running MSSQL locally on the webserver.
Just one problem - topics that have lots of pages (more than 1000) load quite slow, actually quite a bit slower than when I used Access as DB - can anyone explain why this could be? |

Well, but still - seems strange that just this issue is faster using Access. |

SQL Server is much more dependent on proper indexing than Access, though I agree it does look strange. It's quite common, though. I remember an instance where someone with a 200 MB Access DB had a given "large" search perform in about a minute in Access and two and a half minutes in SQL Server. |

Rui, is there a clever way of solving that on the SQL server side ? Or would that require code changes ? |

A proper choice of indexes should be able to help with that... Anyway, there's something that needs to be asked: what driver is being used to connect to the database? The SQLOLEDB or the ODBC driver? |

What can be done about the indexing?
Itīs the only performance problem I have after converting MSSQL - everything else is much faster !
