| A tab is just a new window, so if you target="_blank" with a tabbed enabled browser, a new tab will be created for the new window. The answer to your second question is no. The popup will still be the defined size, but there will show a tab in the menu bar of the browser. At least that is the way Opera and Maxthon works. |

I've found that that depends on your settings...
You can set "_blank" to open in a new window and not a new tab (the default in some, but not others), and if your settings are a certain way the pop-ups will be maximized... for the life of me I have been unable to disable this feature in the MyIE install at work. |

| Yeah, you'll have to upgrade to Maxthon if you are using MyIE2 to see that option. |

I knew it was in Maxthon, but not MyIE2 as far as I know.... for some reason I can't quite point to, I like the MyIE2 implementation better...
But that just brings us back to the original question: do we want to change the way certain things work knowing that we may not be able to rely on it appearing in the size browser we want? Not to mention having it open a new tab or window when we were planning on the other.... though I doubt there will be a "_tab" option. The way I understand it each tab is really a different browser window - just more organized and sharing a common toolbar. (not to mention easier to use )
And when I ask this, I ask in the broader sense of web programming in general, not specific to Snitz. |

Show Pop-ups with Sized options bother me if implemented in new series of browsers as option like new Firefox'es, new Operas and explorers etc. etc.
I know a lot of people would just make them 1x1 and move on since according to majority "Pop-up = advertisement" (can't blame them to a degree) and since they are in this mentality, they would see more annoying <DIV> Popups embedded right in middle of browser.

Bear in mind, though, that the target attribute has been deprecated. CSS3, however, will introduce a target property for links that includes support for tabbed browsers. [Link]

Cool.
Now the question is once its approved, who will support it and who won't? Will MS get that following standards can be a good thing in some cases? Will Steve Balmer stop throwing chairs? Where are we going ... and what's with the handbasket?
Back to the point at hand... Standars are a good thing as long as everyone follows them. |

I agree standards are a good think, and in general it is not that the browsers don't follow them, just that the standards come after the browsers |
