Yeah, I agree with that view too. I never had spam in my computer. Or a virus. It just depends on what you choose to visit, what you choose to install or accept.
Just read about a new trojan that disables almost all known security apps (ZA, NIS, McAfee, etc). Seems like it is send through an email. I had it on my inbox (all these years online, publicising my email address must have some consequence ), but I did not open it, of course.
So the advice is, indeed, to practise safe Hex! |

I've been using firefox for the last few months, mostly because of the number of BHO hacks that can affect IE browsers that might not be updated. The concept of BHO's is nice, but there have been just sooo many exploits of that functionality. In my IE I have "enable 3rd party browser extensions" disabled.
I haven't personally had any problems with either browser, but I have a lot of non-technical customers who have kept me too busy eradicating spyware and such from their machines. If I get one of their computers in, I usually install Firefox even if they normally use IE.

what you should all remember about standards is that many of the w3c browser standards were ratified after IE6 was released unlike firefox which came later.
Back on topic, security is a function of the user, I have been doing stuff online since before browsers and the internet even existed and have never had any kind of virus/worm or trojan on my computer.
I currently use IE7 for my browsing. |

The really fun part is now some of the people at the hospital are so paranoid about security problems in IE (IS has it as the defalut at the hospital) that they won't accept the updates either!
Now we get a nice "Everyone" e-mail letting us know that there is an update comming, and to remind eveybody to o.k. the update.... more spam for greater security! |
