Is there a way to AUTOMATICALLY insert the name of the user that is uploading an image DIRECTLY in the section where is written :"Type here your description"? It's important 'cause if you search for ALL images you have as a result a gallery of images which you don't know who has uploaded it.
Escuse me for my english.. |

Find the following on line 241 of photo_album_upload.asp:" <textarea cols=""40"" rows=""5"" name=""Description"">Type your description here</textarea><BR>"& vbNewLine And replace it with the following:" <textarea cols=""40"" rows=""5"" name=""Description"">"&strDBNTUsername&"</textarea><BR>"& vbNewLine |

the problem is that user can now delete the name.. what i want is that: A user upload his image and his description then automatically when he click on the button the asp page insert the name into the description he gave.

OK, so, undo that change above and, in the ToFileSystem.asp file, find the following on line 212:strFileDesc = objUpload.Fields("Description").Value Replace it with the following:strFileDesc = strDBNTUsername&": "&objUpload.Fields("Description").Value Be sure to test it first to make sure it doesn't throw up any errors.

I think also you can just use the readonly attribute as its a textarea, thats what I use on a few of mine forms and textareas. |

D'oh! Of course it doesn't, that file doesn't include inc_header.asp - stoopid, Shaggy!
Luckily, it looks as though this mod has its own variable for holding the member name; replace strDBNTUsername in my edited code above with strUserName.

You're welcome
And welcome to the wonderful world of Snitz
<edit> Just thinking, you're going to run into problems if any members with a photo album change their username, it would probably be a better solution if you modified the photo search to grab the owner's name from the MEMBERS table. Although, if I remember correctly., this entire mod relies on M_NAME rather than MEMBER_ID so that won't be the only problem you have if someone changes their name. </edit>

I'll have to look into the mod in more detail to answer those questions, it may be that I'm thinking of a different mod so don't panic just yet If my brain is remembering things correctly and not just making up random stuff to trick me, though, if you do change a member's username, you're also going to have to manually change the directory name where their photos are stored as well as the name in any corresponding database entries.

ok yes.. well as in the reality it would very difficult also in my site to change name.. thanks!! what is important in this mod is to find (and i finded here in snitz) the way to create user's uploading directories automatically. At the moment i have the "manual" version..still no probs..few users by now. |
