Okay, I seriously hope someone can help me with this strange problem. Since a couple of days (perhaps weeks) I and some of my members are experiencing some strange behaviour at oxle.com and oxle.nl ; people cannot log in or cannot log out ... Yesterday I couldn't log on to oxle.nl at home, but I could log on to oxle.com (same code, different virtual host) using my home PC. This morning, I got back to work, and experienced no problem logging on to both sites, but just a couple of minutes ago I discovered I couldn't log off anymore ... The only thing that works is getting rid of my cookies.... Some other members have the same problem....some don't.
Okay, I admit ; oxle is somewhat modded but I'd appreciate it if someone could shed some light on possible causes for this behaviour. For reference ; all files are available in source at http://www.oxle.com/source.asp (login demo/demo)
Thanks a bunch in advance for any advice. |

It's a IE issue, I'd say. I faced that situation yesterday with a Snitz forum and add to delete the specific forum cookie to be able to logout. After deleting all the forum cookies (there were more than 1!) all problems went away. |

I could login to oxle.com and oxle.nl but not the other sites. Cookies are created in DoCookies, inc_func_common.asp.
Did you change anything else? Are you using frames or such? Are the sites actually different? How are cookies set, whole site or forum? |

Nope ; those files are the only files changed in the last month. I haven't got access to IIS ; that's all for Wiktel.

Nope ; no frames.

Oxle.com and oxle.nl aren't really different ; it's the exact same files on the exact same server, configured with 2 virtual hosts pointing to the same folder and same DB.

Let me check ; to Forum (which should be used according to the help if there are multiple forums on the same site ; and so there are, the /forums.asp and the /scouting/forums.asp)
I guess I'll just use a good nights rest as a possible remedy.
Just discovered that logging in with FireFox works perfectly ... |

I still haven't been able to log on to oxle.nl on my own PC's (laptop ánd desktop) with IE, but firefox works perfectly, and several other users have encountered the same strange behaviour already.
I do believe you when you say it's most likely an IE issue, but please forgive me if I say I find this strange as it happens simultanously with several users on various machines all in IE. I suspect something to be wrong with the IIS virtual host setup, which prohibits the cookie to be set by the host with the dns entry oxle.nl for IE.
I'll contact sr_erick (who works at wiktel) to see if he has any idea what might be causing this issue. |

You haven't updated your IE lately? I know there was a package of IE security fixes posted my Microsoft this month, I applied it with other updates, but then I had to remove it all cause I stopped being able to login to Windows. Maybe you installed the updates and it is their fault this is happening.
I'd still try a compact privacy policy. |

Mmmm....that could be very likely causing this. There have been some Windows updates lately, so perhaps that's the cause.
I'm sorry but what do you mean with 'compact privacy policy' ? I don't think I understand what you mean....sorry.
