Hello - a third party is helping my company install and configure Snitz Forums, and they have said that real-time full text search is not bundled with the installation. Instead they have proposed a nightly batch process to update the search database. Essentially then, you wouldn't be able to search for today's posts until tomorrow.

This doesn't seem to jive with any of the Snitz installations I have seen, or with the Snitz feature list as far as I can tell. Is real-time full text search part of the installation, or is some extra work needed to implement it?

Thanks for your help!

Full text search is not part of the installation. It's an addon, so extra work is indeed needed.

Thank you very much. What type of search does the built in search capability provide? And is there a recommended addon you could direct me too by any chance for a more full fledged search functionality? (For instance, the text search on this forum seems to work very well.)

Thanks!

The search included by default is simply a search in text fields using the LIKE operator.
Not sure about the current status for this forum, but I think it is using the default search page. What happens is that the SQL Server database this forum is using is installed in a good server, with, I believe, 4 GB RAM.

There is a full text search mod by gary. Have a look, or search, the Mod W/Code forum. It should be easy enough to find.
