Try searching the phpBB forums, there are many scripts available for converting your database.
|
Search is your friend “I was having a mildly paranoid day, mostly due to the fact that the mad priest lady from over the river had taken to nailing weasels to my front door again.” |

What are the problems you're hitting with snitz? there may be some mods/extensions that'll cover them off and add a whole new lease of life to your forum |

thanks for the link. I finally made the conversion, its supposed to be easy but it took me a while.
Don't get me wrong, I like snitz, its functionality is good. But visually and design was not that good. I was looking for something more extreme.
you can check my new converted forum here: www.mzhonduras.com |

Well, I've got to give it to ya ; it's looking very nice now! Definitely not Snitz anymore!
Can we now redirect all questions about Snitz -> phpBB conversion to you ? You're the expert now! hehe |

The design you have with the PHPBB could of been done with Snitz, real easy. Also you seem to have less functions now.
By the way, your members might get upset as they now get their e-mail address shown to the world, which allows robots to pick them up for their SPAM lists. |

I'd have to disagree with that personally, customising the look and feel of a forum in Snitz is still a very big effort (more so since 3.4 and everything being Response.Write coded). It's really the only area where Snitz's compettitors have an upper hand, anything that supports "skining" or "themeing" makes life a lot easier for the administrator wanting to quickly change the look of their forum.
Hiding the email in phpbb is just an admin setting to be changed no biggie. |

Are there plans to change that in any future version of Snitz? |

Exist any working MOD for Snitz templates? I mean user can switch to defined forum theme. |
I am still learning. Sorry for my stupid questions (sometimes) and bad English. |

quote: It used to be that way. It was changed because when you mix html and asp it affects performance.
Bit of a fallacy actually, I even spent a day testing context switching vs Response.write and there was no measurable difference under IIS5 (iirc a 4guys article drew the same conclusions as well) Under earlier versions of IIS & ASP2 context switching regularly was a bad thing I do agree though.
Anyway I'm getting off topic, that particular issue is off the radar now so to speak and the only direction for Snitz is forward :)
hans: I've never seen any MOD to allow templates, the best IMO is probably D3MON's CSS Version of the forums (Speedball) |
