Now, I'm familiar with how FTP works and I have access to that. However, let's say I want to make changes to my homepage. Edit links, change a few pictures, etc. For that, I wouldn't need FTP. However, in order to do so, would I need to have access to a certain "website" with a username and password to be able to make those kinds of changes?
All help will be appreciated.

I don't see what this have to do with snitz.
But to make changes to any webpage, to edit links or change a few pictures, as you put it, you will need to edit the code. And to get to the code you would need access to the file. And to access the file you would need ftp access to the server.
Then again, I don't even know if I am understanding your question in the first place. It seems very discreet, like you holding back details, hoping to get enough info to do what you want. |

No, I'm not trying to be discreet, I'm just trying to figure out a way to clearly state my question.
I'll be more specific.
I'm referring to this site:
www.schoolofduel.com
Now, I want to edit things on the homepage. Change some links and just renovate the page all together.
I have access to the FTP. I've been looking over the FTP, but I can't actually figure out how to edit things on my site directly.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but FTP merely aids in uploading and downloading things to and from the site.
However, I want to actually edit things directly on my site.
I'm not really familiar with how Snitz works. I have my own web page, but it's not Snitz.
My question is what exactly lets me edit the site directly? I'm not asking you to give me links, since you obviously wouldn't have them, but just to tell me where I might find it and what to look for. I'm just not familiar enough with the Snitz server and so I'd like to be sure of something before I actually do it. |

Edit and test your files on a local server and upload when you think everything is ok - probably it is not but working this way minimize irritation amongst visitors. I suppose there are several different programs for editing files on the Internet-server but to me - a non-professional web-worker - that method seems dangerous. |

Snitz is only the forum software, it has nothing to do with the remainder of the site, download the home page, edit locally and then upload as suggested. |

I think what you're after is either a portal solution (eg Sharepoint, but there are many excellent free ones out there) or you want to use 'Frontpage Extensions' which handles the download/work locally/upload bit for you (if you use Frontpage)
There is no way to work the files remotely, you need to download, change, test, upload
hope this helps |

Microsoft's FrontPage 2003, (and some earlier versions) allows you to directly edit your website files on line. As mentioned before, your website needs to have FrontPage Extension's enabled before this will work.
