Is anyone aware of a program that will limit the time a child can use the internet for?
My 12 year old seems to have a hard time turning of some online games he's been playing.
I'd like something that I can set as like a timer that will automatically turn off his internet access.
Thanks.

I use a program for my children called: CCProxy from YoungzSoft. It allows you to specify times and can restrict down to MAC addresses and is free for up to 3 users. It is nice and easy to set up as well.

I hope that helps..

[edit for a simple quotation]Plus it is not for ClassicmotorCycling.

Cheers,

Some Routers have this capability too, my old SMC Barricade for one.

Try telling him to shut the computer off.

CCProxy? ClassicmotorCycling Proxy by any chance? ;-)

I know it's a pay-for, but MSN offer quite a high level of parental controls, including several preconfigured age-band settings, IM monitoring, browser controlling, child spying etc. I think you can configure certain timeslots for applications to run, too (ie game X available between 6pm and 8pm, Messenger between 5pm and 7pm, or whatnot)

Hmm, that was what I tried first, I'd rather not feel like the bad guy all the time. This technique has not been too successful.
Plus, he does not have a PC in his room yet, but if he does, I'd like to have some control over it.
I downloaded a trial of CyberPatrol.
It might have what I want.
It allows me to set times he can use it, as well as a total amount of time for each day.
