Hi,

I am not sure where to put this, so I'll start here in General. I am using Windows Srever 2003 and my friend is trying to help me set up my forum- we keep getting this error:

***

ADODB.Field error '800a0bcd'

Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted. Requested operation requires a current record.

/FB/Default.asp, line 91

http://www.(my site name is here).com/FB/

***

If anyone could point us in the right direction I'd really apreciate it!

Blue

Have you run setup.asp?

Hi Shaggy,

Thanks for replying! I'm sorry it took so long for me to respond, I had to make a trip to Laos.

My friend "isn't sure" if he ran setup.asp or not- we'll try it and I'll post the results!

Thanks,

Blue

Hi again,

Unfortunately it looks like it isn't that simple...

We get the following errors when we run setup.asp, right after we type in our admin and password:

First we unzipped the contents to a folder on the server with the exception of the database and shared this folder with full access permission.

Secondly we put the database in C:\(database name). We renamed the database from the default Snitz_forums_2000.mdb.

Thirdly we edited the config.asp to point to the database in C and uncommented the lines corresponding to database type and database connstring trying both Access 2000 and 97.

We are stumped.

Thanks again,

Blue

Thanks again,

It looks like Doug might have the answers! I'm new to this so I'll try running some searches if that doesn't clear it up. We were following the instructions in the second link you provided throughout but perhaps missed something.

Cheers,

Blue

Actually, what I was trying to draw your attention to with the second link was the following:
quote:
Q: Why do I get an "Operation must use an updateable query" error when trying to use my forum?

A:
This is a common HTTP 500 error encountered when setting up an Access Database. It means that the folder in which you have placed the database does not have proper permissions granted to the server to modify the files. Make sure that if your host provided a location specifically for databases, that you have put the database there. For more information and other possible resolution strategies, you can refer to this article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q175168

Yaaayyyy!!!

Shaggy, the links and info you posted helped us find the problem, thank you. In a nutshell we hadn't thought to set permissions in the "security" tab. My friend can describe this in better detail, I will ask him to post soon.

Thanks again for all the help, much apreciated!
