I'm trying to locate some distant relatives by the last name of Egan. What would be a good web site for this?
Thanks!
Cheers,
Etymon

I've always found Ancestry.com to be reasonably good in this field. Some people I know recommend Genealogy.com but I've always found it a tad confusing.

Search is your friend “I was having a mildly paranoid day, mostly due to the fact that the mad priest lady from over the river had taken to nailing weasels to my front door again.” |

You're welcome If you're serious about tracing your family's roots, though, you'd be better off going to a professional, I tried doing it through the interweb a couple of years back and got lost about three generations back!

all the records exist in small parish church offices and used to be stored at somerset house (but no longer). Somerset house has this (following) on it's website - should be helpful to you. You may find it helpful to contact a genealogist to do the legwork for you, as it can be pretty intense.

If you know what country your relatives came from, you might be lucky in finding genealogy web sites and boards related to the specific area, and maybe get more help. |
