Our forum members have been clamoring, CLAMORING! I tell ya' for the following:
Numbered posts, so a reply to post 11, say, is threaded with a link on post 25, defining what earlier post the later post is referencing, without all the quote steps.
A way to search a member by POSTS, not threads. A search of posts by a member go directly to post 25, say in topic x, not just a link to topic x with 7 pages in it!
A way to "ping" other members to a particular post in a topic. In other words your reply is to the author, but you can also call it to the attention of whatever members you want. THOSE members can then search on POSTS to them and find that reply.
Searchs on posts FROM a member and also TO a member, by post number as above.
That and a WYSIWYG posting ability and HTML source posts with imbedded links SAFELY.....
Would be a fine thing.
OTHER forums seem to have mastered these abilities.
