Hello friends

Just installed the latest version of snitz on my IIS. It works great.

I am running windows XP with sp2 installed.

I am having problems sending emails. Is it the cdonts problem with
xp? or something I am missing. I also have php5 and mysql installed.

Can someone pl help me configure my smtp server so that I can send
emails to the users ?

Thanks

James

Are you specifying "localhost" or "127.0.0.1" as the mail server address? (without quotes)

Its probably better to install a mail server like
http://www.smartertools.com or http://www.mailenable.com (both free)

In the long run it will give you more control over how email is sent out.

Thanks podge, these links are very useful.

PS
I am using "localhost" . I tried 127.0.0.1 but it did not work. I have installed and used snitz earlier also but now am failing to make it work. Missing something... :(

Are you just having problems with email?

If you install one of the mail servers make sure that you allow 127.0.0.1 to allow relaying.
If you make it any stricter i.e. requiring a mailserver username and password you would have to use an email component which supports authentication. There aren't any free ones.

If it still won't work, try looking at the logs to see if anything useful turns up.

Theres little to nothing you need to configure to get IIS SMTP working, as long as it's started it will probably work without changing a thing.

ok, so what should be the email server name, my email id.
I tried me@localhost.com and its not working although it says Email Sent. But no email is actually sent.

The logs should tell you why.

Try looking for a folder called "Badmail"
