Yay! After 4 months of "retirement" I started working yesterday. I'm managing the POS rollout for Papa Murphy's pizza http://www.papamurphys.com We're an 850 unit Take-n-Bake pizza company. The plan is to be 1500 units within 5 years. We're in 27 states, 30 by the end of the year, and probably Canada as well.
I'm so glad to be working again, unemployment just doesn't quite cover the playing I like to do!

LOL!! Yeah, a lot of the older systems they have in place are definitely that kind of POS! The new ones are all integrated touch-screen flat panels. Very nice stuff.
And yes, Jorrit, Point of Sale is right.
It's nice, I'm making $2000 a year more than my last job (that I hated the last 8 months I was there). I worked for a burger restaurant company for almost 19 years...this month would have been 19, I started there in 1986 as an hourly employee and worked my up through the restaurant, then into the corporate office doing their IT stuff. Then I got my boss fired for embezzeling - the official # is around $330,000 in 5 years, but my opinion is the number is closer to $500,000.
My new boss and I didn't get along too well, I really started hating it when he gave me a written warning for making a mistake on my expense account...the first mistake I made in 9 years. He said that was the problem, I just didn't make mistakes, so this was obviously a performance problem, and wrote me up for poor performance. What an a$$. Anyway, I'm glad to be gone, and even happier to be working again.

Dearest withanhdammit,
It appears that you are making good money in the pizza industry. I also noticed that you have not yet offered free pizza and/or beer for all of your friends here.
Come on, what do ya say we celebrate your new job in style?

Yes, I did get fired, but I don't think they were related... The whistle blower incident happened in June of 03, then I was without a boss for 6 months, then the new jerk was hired, then I was fired 11 months later for "poor performance". Total time between the two was about 18 months...

Search is your friend “I was having a mildly paranoid day, mostly due to the fact that the mad priest lady from over the river had taken to nailing weasels to my front door again.” |
