I just finished the setup which went off without a hitch. But, when I went to the main page I got this...

Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'

Operation must use an updateable query.

/si/forum/inc_functions.asp, line 644

Please tell me whats wrong?

PS: I am setting this up for a friend, my forum works great!

This means thet the permissions are not set on your DB directory.

You need to allow read/write and modify for the IUSR_DOMAIN account

the directory is now set for r/w, but same error. what do you mean by "and modify for the IUSR_DOMAIN account"

IUSR_DOMAIN is an NT permission setting which (I believes) gives all users a certain level of permissions. Your host should be able to do that for you.

Also, make sure the database itself has r/w permissions on it. If you had to set the permission on the directory, chances are the database has the permissions which were on it originally.
