Hi,
my forum is not working & I am unconvinced my hosting company can resolve it. So, just wondering if anyone else has every experienced this & can offer any assistance.

When I go to my forum I get this message
----
Request Cannot Be Serviced
The site has exceeded its resource limit and cannot process this request.
----
instead of any pages on the forum.

The hosting company has said the server is at 100% cpu usage. I have done a search here for CPU but couldn't find anything.

Previously the forum had been running slow at peak times eg when people got to work in the morning, and at lunch time & we'd sometimes get this message
----
Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0113'

Script timed out

/forum/forum.asp

The maximum amount of time for a script to execute was exceeded. You
can change this limit by specifying a new value for the property
Server.ScriptTimeout or by changing the value in the IIS
administration tools.
----

I am running version 3.4.03 using an Access database and the forum is at www.weddingsa.com/forum

My website gets around 2000-3000 visitors per day, but I'd estimate that at any one time there'd be only around 50 or so visitors on the forum.

thanks, Amelia

My Opinion: You need to change hosting companies!

I had a problem with my hosting company 2 years ago, we went around and around till i finally had enough, registered with "HostMySite.com and the resit is history, the service and performance is top notch.

Thats rather a lot for an Access database expecially if you could have 50 users or so on the forum at any one time.
Access doesn't hold up well under such usage. You really should consider upsizing your database to Sql Server if your host supports it.

Actually, I think they don't have Sql Server but they do have MySQL Database Support - (FREE Setup) / $11 month.

That makes upsizing a bit more difficult but possible. I think there's a Howto somewhere on this forum.

Hi, thanks for your replies.. after being on the phone to the hosting company they have the forum up & running again. PHEW!! I've also turned off the images - the thinking was that the server was stressing out trying to access pics from other websites & display them in the posts. Only time will tell if this will fix our probs.

Upgrading/transferring to another database is all a bit beyond my capabilities. If anyone can assist us with this please email me webmaster@weddingsa.com along with how much you'd charge.

Thanking you,
Amelia

I've just had the same problem i get this error message:

Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0113'

Script timed out

/forum/default.asp

The maximum amount of time for a script to execute was exceeded. You can change this limit by specifying a new value for the property Server.ScriptTimeout or by changing the value in the IIS administration tools.

Is this a server issue too? Or something wrong with the forum? The link to my forum is www.cotswoldcarp.co.uk/forum

Yep, it's a server issue.
