I have searched for hours and hours and have seen solutions but none of them really seem to help me exactly.. So i do apologise but if someone can just hit the nail on the head and come up with experienced answers for someone that is new to the Snitz world that would be appreciated..

**I am using the latest version of Snitz Forum**

1. I have setup a subdomain http://www.forum.divineodyssey.co.uk which is actually a forward from http://83.137.226.151/forum/default.asp and i am having that problem that many people have had if someone goes to the forum from the subdomain address they are on a loop of the login page the whole time.

This only happens with I.E. Tho.. Firefox is fine..

Is there a common solution for this?? Because i would like to link my forum as the subdomain not an I.P. address that is quite ugly and cant be remembered that well!!

2. I have visited many snitz forums to get ideas and see how they operate etc and pretty much all of them when they load go straight into the Forum with all the topics and stuff there.. There are times when my forum loads and it takes you to a login screen. I dont really like that and would like all my users to go straight to the forum page and login from the top right hand corner if they want to contribute.

Is there a way of stopping this login screen screen appearing?

3. The RANKING STARS!! I can choose, Stars Only, rank and Stars etc.. But the Stars dont appear.. Im not too fussed about the users getting stars as the make more messages but it would be nice if that worked.
What i am interested in is.. having the 5 star stuff for admin and moderators..
For example.. an Admin user having 4 gold stars and moderator 2 silver stars..
I have looked and looked for a mod to do this but have had no luck!

I have seen people talk about an "admin star mod" but i have never found it.

Also why do you even need a mod for this?? why doesnt it just work! You choose Stars Only.. Stars Only Should Appear But they dont!!

Please Help Me as i have searched and searched not wanting to annoy anyone with typical questions.. but if someone could answer these i would really appreciate it!!

Q.1 I'm not really sure of your question but I think you need to go into your admin options and then go to 'Main Forum Configuration' and specify the exact forum URL.

Q.2 Quote: There are times when my forum loads and it takes you to a login screen. Go to your admin options, go into 'Main Forum Configuration', put 'Requires Registration' to OFF.

Q.3 when you say the stars are not appearing, does that mean you get nothing or does that mean you get red boxes;

As for the Admins and Moderators having 5 stars, go to www.snitzbitz.com and find the Modification there.

Do any of your users have enough posts to have earned themselves a star? You can change the number of posts required to reach each star level in the ranking configuration.

The way around this problem we figured out, without addding a mod that is, was to go in and manually edit the Admin and mod post counts and adding 10,000 posts to their total. That makes the stars show up for them. I agree this shouldn't need to be a mod nor should you have to increase the post count. It should be a working feature.

yeah.. that makes sense...

i think more what im after is having the moderators and admin users to have stars right from the start..

Because in the ranking setup menu you can edit how many posts a user needs to enter to be awarded a star but you can also edit what colour star admin and moderator users get (which is at the top of the ranking setup menu).. and there is no user post amount they need to enter to get that star..

this is where im confused.. because im just assuming that but selecting say a : - gold star for the administrator and then selecting "show stars only" this will make a gold star appear next to the adminstrator?? no matter how many posts they have made..

but this does not happen...

Everyone needs to post as many messages as required by the number inserted into the rank configuration to get the corresponding stars to be shown. Once that level is reached the stars will be shown in the color chosen for that member type.

AH HA!! Now I get it!!! Thank You!!!

I do apologise!!

OK now i have one more test please.. which i would like someone to do and possibly explain how i can sort out maybe..

go to http://www.forum.divineodyssey.co.uk with Microsoft Internet Explorer browser and login as jonno and password qwerty

when i do this with internet explorer it logs me straight out everytime!! but this doesnt happen with firefox??

But if you do this with Internet Explorer from the original hosting address http://83.137.226.151/forum/

it works fine...

Is the problem with Internet Explorer or my subdomain forwarding...

As stated before i would like to promote my snitz message board using the subdomain address as it looks better and is easier to remember..

You guys / girls are great and i really appreciate the time taken out to answer my questions for me.. you couldnt buy better support than this!!!

ruirib how have u got 5 stars? is it cos of how many posts u have done or is it a mod?

What value have you specified for your forum URL? Try specifying http://83.137.226.151/forum/ as the forum URL. It may fix your logout issue.

My five stars are there because I have more than 2000 posts, which is the highest level defined here at Snitz.

i changed to what you said and still logs me straight out again.. ****!

could this be a cookies problem or some sort of bug with I.E. Browser??

the forwarding is done by oneandone.co.uk and its not a business or professional package.. could the problem be the oneandone forwarding system is not designed to forward an asp based site?

I logged in at http://www.forum.divineodyssey.co.uk with IE and it worked fine for me. didn't log me out.

try deleting your cookies and then log in again

IE is blocking the cookies, in my case. You can try an implement a compact privacy policy, to overcome IE blocking the cookies:

Here is another link that may help:http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=43487&SearchTerms=compact,privacy,policy

thanks this probably is the problem..

i deleted my cookies but im still having the same problem.. when trying to log in from the sub domain address..

The privacy policy is pretty new to me and i wouldnt know how to implement one that well.. on one of the links provided above someone has stated they enter a line of code into the inc_header.asp file

Response.Write "<meta http-equiv=""CP"" content=""OTI DSP COR LAW CURa ADMa DEVa TAIa OUR BUS IND UNI COM NAV INT"">" & vbNewline

which i could do!!

would this solve my problem?
