'an error' is a general term... It would help if you told us what error - Do you mean the Internal Server Error that comes up when clicking the 'New Post' button, or is it something else?

error 500 which can mean just about anything...

I attempted to upload a web.config file so I would have a better idea (custom errors=off) but to no avail...

I just get a generic error.

You need to ask your host to configure the site so that detailed error information is sent to the client. Otherwise it's impossible to know what is happening, though he may have a look at the server's log and inform you about it.

I am just going to bail the host, run my own mail and web servers and call it a day.
