For some reason one of our clients wants a file in Word so, as usual, I'm left fighting with one of the worst applications known to man. I have 2 files that need to be one and I'm looking through the menus trying to figure out how to do so. To my shock there doesn't appear to be on option to insert a page or, if there is, it's nicely hidden where nobody can find it. Did find a "Merge Documents" item in the tools page but that didn't do nothing. Somebody, please help!

... And then maybe somebody can point me in the way of a petition to get Microsoft to stop ditributing this travesty of a programme!

Can´t you just copy/paste the text into 1 new word file ?

No, tried that and it just reflows all over the place, probably because there's images involved or something.

Doesn't Insert->File work for you? It allows you to insert a Word document into another, at a given point.

You could try copying and then Paste Special->Microsoft Word Document Object. Maybe it will keep the formating. If it doesn't, try the option to paste as Formatted Text.

P.S: Just for the record, I completely disagree about Word being a travesty of an app. It is a great word processor, completely programmable and controlable from another app, besides providing almost everything I need in a word processor.

The first option did nothing; just gave me a tiny box at the end of my document. Second option pasted all my images twice but no text.

Think we'll just send the PDF over to the client and tell them we don't have Word here.

By the way, Rui, you should give Quark a whirl; I gurantee you'll never go back to Word!

Ah-ha! Found Insert>Break; was greyed out eralier but working know for whatever reason. Only problem is it inserts a new page at the beginning of the document. How do I select whereabouts in the document I want to insert the new page or, failing that, how do I rearrange the order of pages so I can move the new page to the end of the document.

Page Break should insert at current cursor location. If there are no line breaks in the text, it will move up to beginning of paragraph.

Are you using a Mac? Both suggestions work perfectly in Windows / Word environment.

Word has very big plus for me: Office integration. I create Word docs from Access and access Access from Word. That is a huge advantage for some things I do. Don't think Quark will offer these capabilities...

No, I'm on XP.

Wouldn't know anything about Office integration; only ever used Access for websites and I'm slowly ditching that in favour of MySQL - different strokes for different folks, I guess; would take a lot of work to convince me Word was worth the hassle

Anywee, finally found a PDF to Word converter that doesn't have any limitations so problem sorted

Cheers for the help guys
