The downside, though, is that you end up having a lot of redundant code that's hard to validate. I'm still quite new to web design at a seim-professional level, but I'm certainly interested in making sure that all of my markup validates according to w3 standards. I find that it's easier to validate if you start off more compliant then apply hacks to make it downward compatible as well. |

The something standard would be Internet Explorer as most of your users more than likely use it. Programming solely for Firefox is not the solution and neither is soley for IE. The best solution is like Huwr said, try to ensure compatibility with most. |

I personally prefer Netscape, it runs all the sites i ever visit fine, its got a nice and effective pop-up blocker and it allows tabbed browsing and its not made by microsoft. fulfills all my requirements... |

I work off Netscrape (oops, sorry Netscape) 4.7 & Internet Explorer when I develop web sites. I know if it works or looks somewhere close to to what I want, in Netscrape 4.7 then it should work in Internet Explorer, Netscrape 5 + and Firefox. Well I have found it to work that way for both ASP and PHP. And since most people have above Netsrape 4.7 now, I see no issue.
I would not and would not advise others to use a browser over the other, as it all boils down to personal preference. I know I prefer MyIE2 over Firefox, but that is me. I am so use to some of the functions, that I try to use them on other browsers and get a shock when they don't work. Again personal preference.
