I have searched for the answer, so please pardon me if I have just overlooked it or if this question is silly.

My "New posts since last logon." Icon stays up after viewing the thread. The only way to get it to change back to the "No new posts since the last visit." is to leave and come back.

I would like it to change after viewing the new post. Is this possible?

Thank you.

You can't do it for a single post ... it's a whole site thing.

What laser meant is that the mechanism that determines what's new or not does not work for a single thread in isolation. It determines new posts by comparing your last visit date with the post's dates, and posts made with later date than your last visit date are marked as new. As such, you cannot change a single post "new" status in isolation.
