I have just setup a snitz forum, and all is going fine, except emails!

if a user registers, thgey dont receive an activate email and i have to activate their account.

plus, if i want to sent an email to any user etc, the user does not receive an emails?

any idea to solve this problem or is anyone willing to walk me through the setup...

It sounds to me like you have chosen CDONTS/CDOSYS in your mail settings, if that is so, then they are probably not set up on the server, or your email account settings are wrong.

You should first contact your host and ask them what asp mail component you can use

I would also ask them the address of the mail server you should use e.g. mail.yourdomain.com and whether the mail server requires authentication (username and password).

Podge.

right i think the problem is, that im trying to sent emials from out sode the company and we have the authentication (username and password) set up so anyone from inside the company can sent emails etc... so if i was to go into work, login, then try sent emails, im hoping it will work...

is your virtual SMTP service setup correctly in IIS, if so then it is probably a relaying problem, are you able to look in the mail logs to see if it is receiving the mail from the forum and what it does with it

I had the exact same problem, all I had to do after a few days of thinking, was to remove a comment in the mail config file, where it says what type of authentication should be used, and set it to basic.. Then it worked for me, and no anonymous access allowed either.
