Guys and Gals,

last fall i installed the new version of Snitz, got it up and running, sending email....aspmail via postmaster and smtp ran great, THEN i installed a second forum, same server, seperate database....can't get email to work, and the first forum doesn't send mail either!!!! any body else had the problem? maybe the problem is totally unrelated to my second install?

comments and insights appreciated!

Thanks.

Lisa

Do the other email functions work, like sending email to member?

You are using the latest version for both forums? Do both forums have the same email server configuration and do they both have subscriptions enabled?

So strange.....i just got home, checked email and had two messages from the first forum.....from members who had posted, not any of my test postings, am having my sister, log onto the new 2nd forum and see if i receive something from it.....is it perhaps recognizing that the originating post is from the same pc to which the the subscribed sender is also? I do have IP logging enabled. I've been logging on an another member and posting a test message, then checking my email to see if I've received a notification from the forum.

You don't get notifications for your own posts. That's how subscriptions work ... and it has always been like that.

Hmmm... A category and all of the forums were not properly configured. For Board subscriptions each category should be set to Allow Category Subscriptions and each forum needs to be set to Allow Forum Subscriptions, not Topic Subscriptions.

Lemme know if this fixed it.

I had my sister post a message, still not receiving notification. Thanks for setting the categories and forums...i let her do it :) and hadn't checked it yet. The two forums are the same version. I'm receiving from the first one, just not this new one. To setup the new forum I just uploaded the files from the original unzipped set on my pc. I even down loaded the inc_mail.asp from the first forum and uploaded it to the new forum's site.

unless you have any other ideas, i can only think of one more option...see if Alentus support has any suggestions...that's the host www.alentus.com

Thanks again for all your help.

rui, i gave you admin rights to the first forum if you'd like to look at it and see if you see any differences that might make a difference. www.cadroncreekfurniture.com/forum

Everything seems ok. I see no reason for what is happening now.

OK, got it! Alentus support found it. When I created the forum and established myself as the forum administrator, I never went back and edited my profile. It still had the default email address! DUH

Thanks rui for all your help.
