Hi
I have Snitz forum with the following config
E-mail Server Configuration
Select E-mail Component: CDONTS (IIS 3/4/5) Chili!Mail (Chili!Soft ASP) CDOSYS (IIS 5/5.1/6)
E-mail Mode: On: Off:
E-mail Server Address: shbi-intranet.shbi.com
Administrator E-mail Address: ashley.gibbon@shbi.net
Require Unique E-mail: On: Off:
E-mail Validation: On: Off:
Restrict Registration: On: Off:
Require Logon for sending Mail: On: Off:
The SMTP server is running on the same server as snitz, shbi-intranet.shbi.com.
I have subscribed to the whole forum, and checked the addresses for the user who has subscribed.
The SMTP server logs show no contact from this server via SMTP, so it appears snitz is not sending email.
I have checked the SMTP server and can send mail through it using outlook. Relaying is enabled.

Do you require authentication on the mail server? If so, there are a few posts dealing with how you add this to the forum.

| it does not appears so, if i check my outlook client with which I can send email through this server, I do not have the SMTP authentification box checked. And I have checked the SMTP config, and found that it is not on. |

| have you configured your server to use cdonts/cdosys correctly ? it must be set up using IIS virtual SMTP server to connect |

I am not sure what you mean here.
I have tried CDONTS and CDOSYS, is there anything else i need to set up please? IIS is running on windows 2000, I dont know what version and cannot find.

I have tried two mail servers so far. 1 is exchange 2003 it does not require authentification, the second is IIS SMTP server on the same box as the forum. Its log show no contact from the Snitz system. I have sent three internet messages from it using outlook express and they worked and show up in the logs. No change to the logs when testing snitz.

OK I have one config sending mail for me now. If I use the send mail feature. But subscriptions is not sending at the moment. I will work on it, thanks for your help.

| what I am saying is that it is not the settings in Snitz that are the problem, do you have CDONTS set up on your server ? just because it is installed doesn't mean it is set up. |

Edit: CDONTS and CDOSYS appear in the list in admin options/mail config. Does that mean it's set up OK?
