I heard the earthquake was so powerful it wobbled the earth slightly and made that day a fraction of a second shorter... that's just amazing to me.
Even if people donate a dollar... at least it's something to help. I'm proud of some of the US companies that have donated so much for the relief effort.
Fact of the matter is tsunamis do not occur frequently enough for people to know the warning signs or even fear a warning. I know a guy in Hawai`i who worked for the park service and part of his job was sounding off a tsunami alert. He told me that the biggest problem is that when you sound an alert, most people go down to the ocean because they want to watch.
I got word this week that a guy I know has not been heared from and here is the email...
quote:I wanted to pass on some news about Daryl Fruhling. My sister called last night and said that she had heard from Brittany, his ex, and she said that Daryl had gone to Thailand over Christmas with a friend and was supposed to be camping on the beach the day that the tsunami hit. She has not been able to find out any information from the Embassy nor has anyone from his family heard anything. I just thought all of you guy's would want to know so you could say a prayer.
Then also my grandmother had just flew back to the US from Thialand two weeks ago and if she was still over there she would of been caught in it also.
