This may be a dumb question but here it goes... I have a 4 port router at home that has a parallel printer port. I just got a new printer and it only has a USB cable.
Is there a cable to convert from USB to serial parallel or is that backward and stupid? Should I just connect the new printer to a PC (via USB) and then just print that way? Of course, then that PC has to be on all the time. Thanks for any advice. |

There are USB to Parallel adapters out there, but if you are trying to get one retail, they usually cost about $45. I'm sure they can be gotten for less online, but I've never checked. |

I would not spend that kind of money on degrading a printer's performance. Parallel is very, very slow. Getting a print server will give you better performance and more options. |

I agree wholeheartedly. I just stopped working in tech retail, and I was surprised at how many people got those adapters. |

Thanks everyone. If I get a print server that connects to the router - will this be PC and Mac compatible? |
