I never did, until I checked the stats on my website and they're the leading contributor to my hits.... by their robot... which I dont want happening because a) if a website monitoring robot is monitoring my website, I wanna know about it and view the info and b) I never heard of them....

what could they possibly send their robot to my website 150 times a day for? I never signed up for their service...

Never heard of them, but seeing their portfolio, I guess that they think they should monitor the availability of you website.
How long have you had this address ? Perhaps the previous owner had a contract with them ? Just a thought.

I've received plenty of spam from them containing text from my website. I suspect they use some kind of harvester as well as an "uptime" robot.

I use them for one of my sites and received almost zero spam. It's good to see when your site goes down and when it comes back up with some general explanation of what happened. The spam I get from them is VERY minimal, probably one or two e-mails a month.

Yes, I have used them before. They would email me whenever my site went down. I used them when I was with 121hosting. They did a good job of monitoring my site for availability. Pretty good if you have a large site or selling products or services.
