I have a feeling that this is a problem on the server side, but I think it might be linked to the forum (simply because of the number of pages and images). I switched to my current host about three months ago. I've had no problem until recently. The site has gotten steadily slower, with pages loading so slowly that some images will time out. Is this a problem with something being cached on the server? Would a reboot fix this? Am I even posting this in the right forum? So many questions... I've opened a support ticket with my host, but I thought I'd ask here as well, since you guys are the ones who know Snitz the best.

Plenty of people run this forum ware without this issue, so your host may have problems - possibilities include:
  • servers cannot cope with load

  • someone is hosting warez/moviez and drinking all the bandwidth

  • someone's killing the bandwidth by sending near-infinite junk email (this KILLS box performance - happenned to us once, those spammers have no manners)

  • memory leak on server - some app loses a few K of ram every so often, meaning competition for remaining space is high

  • objects created and never destroyed - maybe you're creating zillions of objects in the application and they live eternally, munching through your memory space...or more likely someone else is, on the same box

  • Just some thoughts

They might also just be slowly overloading the server with new clients instead of getting new hardware. Alot of host's seem to think they can put a ton of sites on each server and not have any problems. That's usually what the $3 a month hosting company have to do to be able to make a profit

Is it the site listed in your profile your talking about ? that one at least seems to load pretty quickly for me personally.

The host emailed me back and told me they've been having some issues and that they were thinking of moving my site to another server. I guess they must have done it. [:-p] It's been loading a little faster for me as well. The only time I run into issues is on pages with lots of images, though that may be my DSL being a little weird.
