I would rather use the original version with MODS, than an older version changed beyond recognition. What about the bug/security fixes for Snitz, are they applied to Maxwebportal regularly?

I have to agree with wii on this. Maxwebportal is just an old version of Snitz that has been ripped to almost be non-Snitz (but not quite), yet full of security holes and like all software, with it's bugs. There are others that have taken the base of Snitz and added mods, or better still do it yourself by adding the mods. I am sure they do not apply fixes to Maxwebportal was using 3.1 the last time I had seen.

My 5 cents worth..

Cheers,

David Greening

HI all, i really havent been here in a while, if you want me to mod a forum for you, i can do specific mods and i do it free of charge. The modded forum , i think, was a bad idea because it not possible to include a set of mods everybody wants. un less everyone wanted to post usefull mods that should be included in an "all in one pacage" post if you have any ideas.

Thanks for being just like me and making me know I am not alone with MODS. I know HTML A LITTLE and built a few webpages, but with the MODS, some of the instructions are not clear for newbies and the backing up of files, then changing the name of the file, then adding the line, then changing the name of the file again, then uploading the file, then changing the database, then making a mistake and doing the whole thing over, and needing an ASP reader, is hard for me. I love the SNITZ forum for its easy reading ability, and clarity and easy reading format. I checked out all the forums, PHPBB, RUNBOARDS, AIMOO, INVISION BOARDS, before deciding to use SNITZ for my Alumni forum.

It would seem to me, since a lot of people are concerned about having TOO many MODS installed, and I agree, some of the forums are a bit too much for me, but, why wouldnt SNITZ make a version with very popular MODS like Avatars, spellcheck, IP banning, Photosizer,E-MAIL verification and others and have the ability to enable, or disable them? If they did, I bet SNITZ would kick Invisions ass and PHPBB.

Since I am new to SNITZ and this forum, my hat goes off to a lot of these youngsters here teenagers, 15 or so, who are very very smart, and with their knowledge of computers at their age, well, its fantastic that this younger generation here are so smart and helpful.

I only need 5 MODS, I scratch my head with some of these MODS and am afraid of ruining my forum. My server already messed me up by installing half of a MOD, and then dumping it on me..the creeps. Now I have half of a AVATAR mod, and have to look up every single file to see if he installed it or not.
