Ok, I just know Doug G is gonna see this post and whisk it away to another forum here on the site because it probably doesn't fit here in this forum. I just didn't know where to stick it. Oh, now someone is going tell me to stick it too. LOL!
Well, any way, I had a guest at my forums send me an email saying this:
quote: Hi, there is something wrong with your site, it keeps flashing on and off and it is not possible to scroll down to see the artwork between flashes.
  Sorry!
The topic in question is this: http://www.carolinaequine.com/topic.asp?FORUM_ID=41&TOPIC_ID=246
I am looking for some help here at Snitz because I am baffled about this on my own. I have no idea what she is experiencing. Maybe it is her browser, or maybe it is something I did in the code. My forum is a heavily modded 3.3.05. I'm going to ask my host about it if the problem can't be duplicated with anyone here.
Now, this particular topic just happens to be promoting my wife's artwork on eBay, but I'm not trying to slip one in here. I've intensively promoted this link. I don't want it to be a flop.
Thanks all ... *Doug too!* Etymon

Browser and OS versions? That was what I am wondering as well. I am using Internet Explorer 6 SP1 (soon to upgrade) on Windows 98 Second Edition.
Could it be her firewall causing the flickering?
  Thank you for replying,
  Etymon

unlikely to be a firewall thing - more likely to be a poorly client for some reason. Who knows, out there in internetland people have such malware-infested boxen, it's likely to be something at her end - works for me fine.
If I were you, I'd say 'sorry you don't seem able to see it, and thanks for your consideration in letting me know. I have been unable to reproduce the problem, so attached to this email are the pictures in question - please let me know if this helps you out at all! The forum and pictures are all heavily standards-compliant, so this is either 'just an oddity/one-off', or there may be some deeper problem - have you ever noticed this on other sites?'
or something. Just try to avoid getting into the situation where you end up giving lifetime support for free on some aged old win 98 box with ie4 and riddled with virii ;-) |

No problems for me using Firefox 1.0
How strange, though, I just used the word "farrier" today in a totally non-horse-related post in a different forum. wierd.
PS - why did you think I'd whisk this post away? It seems like a perfect example of "all other subjects".
edit: Oh yeah, the artwork thing back when.
