Can anyone explain clearly what

forumdirectoryname

is?

I know I have a database name, but no directory names.

I am trying to install the forums, and it says I need to go on

http://<yourservername>/<yourforumdirectoryname>/setup.asp

You need to create a directory to put the forum in. For example, at my site it's http://www.genuineimitation.org/forum/. Depending on your host, you should be able to either FTP to the server and create directories using your FTP client.
