Something really bizarre is happening to one of my members. She claims that she has done nothing new, no new browsers or versions, but she said when she edited one of her posts today at this url: http://www.site.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1811&whichpage=2#25882 when she completed it, it forwarded her to: http://www.site.com/forum/topic.asp?whichpage=2&TOPIC_ID=181
Somehow it's cutting off one of the digits at the end and forwarding her to an old topic.
She says this has happened on several occasions but it is not consistent. I cannot duplicate the error.
She's using IE 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158 and has XP SP2 for a few weeks and has never encountered this issue until today. |

sounds like operator error to me . since she edited the topic, she may have just overlooked her mistake. |

Perhaps...but she claims she only pressed 'submit' and it automatically took her to the old topic which was the difference of one digit from the new topic. She truly believes it's not her error and she has done it several times today. |

if you can't duplicate it, then I really think it is something she did or something bizarre about her machine. I could be wrong, but there is nothing in the Snitz code that I see that would modify the URL as she claims.
has anyone else reported this anomaly? |

No. No one else has reported it. As long as no one here has heard about it, then I'll scrub it off as a problem with her machine. But, I suspect this could be another SP2 bug if she truly hasn't done anything to cause the error. |

SP2? You mean XP SP2? I've been running SP2 on several machines for awhile now with no problems. |

Yes. XP SP2. Besides user-error, I can't imagine how it's causing this error. She is a computer science graduate so she understands how this all works. |

I am a College Graduate with degree and many many many years of experience.... and still make the simplest of mistakes. I don't think this is an OS issue. |

Very strange. Maybe you can ask her to just keep track of the topics that she edited her post from, and the topic it redirects her afterwards and maybe you can find some similar between them.
What browser is she using? Does she have any toolbars installed on her browser? Like Google toolbar, etc. Does she have Norton Anti-virus installed? |

She ran into the problem again today.
She says she has:
Yahoo toolbar, eBay toolbar, "ZeroBar" from netZero, NetZero HiSpeed accelerator, and Norton AV.
She's using IE 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158 and has XP SP2 for a few weeks. |

Uh oh. 3 toolbars. Well, I don't know if it is worth it for her to do this, but my suspicion would be the toolbars. I haven't heard of norton doing this kind of thing, so that is my least suspicion. Would need to remove the toolbars for a few days and see if she experiences the problem during that time. If it doesn't happen, the next tricky option would be to find out which toolbar might be giving the problem.
But before she does that, what are the topic id's of the topics she had this problem with? Want to see if it is consistent. |

Hey Astralis, not to dig at your friend/forum member, but if she's a computer science graduate that is supposed to know her stuff, why in the world would she run 3 different IE custom toolbars? Most techies would consider that a little hokey... at least in my part of the world.
However, I'm not sure why that would cause the problem either. |

She's testing the toolbar issues now. It's hard to test, though, because the problem is not consistent. |
