I want to buy a new hard drive to replace my existing primary drive since it is becoming slow, and full.
Now, is there a simple way to copy across the entire contents of my primary drive to the new drive and then make the new drive a primary? Or, do I have to reinstall my software one at a time? |

So, if I install the new drive as a slave then format it (the new drive is 160GB as opposed to 120GB for the old drive), use Norton Ghost to copy the old drive onto the new, then reboot on the new drive, everything should work fine? |

You won't need to format the new drive. Just use Ghost to clone your old drive to your new one. |

That's up to you. When you clone your drive using Ghost, it will automatically increase the size of the partitions to fit the new drive. But, you can specify the size during the process if you want to (i.e. if you want one partition to remain the same size and another one to be bigger). |

you're welcome. I use Ghost all the time, both at work and at home. At work, I use it to clone the drives on new computers before I start working on them. That way, if something goes wrong, I can just restore the Ghost image and start over. At home, I just replaced the hard drives in 4 of my computers and used Ghost to clone the old drives to the new ones. It saves so much time doing it that way. |

Well, I used Drive Image 7 in the end. Wanted to purchase Ghost but the shop would only sell it to me as part of an expensive package. Grr.
Let it run overnight, swapped the drives in the morning and it now boots up in literally a quarter of the time. Result.
Thanks guys! |
