Hi! I use the previous version, I think, and now I'm going to move the forum to another server and domain. I thought this would be a good time to upgrade to a newer version. But, - Is there anything I should be aware of when moving/upgrading? Can I use my old database, - and if not: How can I keep the forummessages from the old one? I don't want to start the forum totally on scratch again! Please help me with this!
You have to preserve the old database to keep your messages. The way will do this will be determined by what sort of database are you using - Access, SQLServer or MySQL.
- Download the latest version of Snitz Forums - Edit config.asp to match your database path - Copy all files except the database to your forum folder - Copy your existing database to your database folder - Run setup.asp
If you have MODs installed then you'll have to redo the modifications in the fresh forum files.
