I wish to be able to create a members only area on my site first i need to know how to do this second i want it to be linked to the forum so when they register at the forum they have access to the members only page also i know its a tall order but any pointers would be great

The easiest way is to fully integrate your forums into your site's look. Most of the changes would be in inc_header.asp and inc_footer.asp. Once that's done, you could use the inc_header.asp in all pages of your site to allow your members to log in on any page they wish to log in on. Then the pages that'd have to be restricted to members only could have a simple mLev (member Level) check to only allow people onto the pages if they're signed in.
