Hey all, I am implementing this forum at my company. We are using a native mode AD, and I would like to use the NT authentication for user login. It appears everything is working correctly - I am not getting any errors as other folks have in previous posts here. I would like to set the Forum up so that any user logged into the AD is automatically registered the first time they visit the site. Basically, I would like the forum to pull the user info from the AD (Firstname, Lastname, NT user ID, email address) and automatically create a user account for the person with this information. As it is right now, users must click Register to create an account on the Forum. I would like to have this step automated. Is this possible?
I would not be against setting up a "config" page for this purpose - a page each new user must load in order for the auto-registration to occur.
Has anyone broached this subject before? Any thoughts on how I could implement this is much appreciated. Thanks. |

Its been along time since i help create the NT auth for this Forum. I also setup the Auto Email from the Exchange servers into the Account. I will look into my Forum and try to post what i have. Maybe there is something that can help out.

Thanks Kal Corp. I finally got the NT authentication working. I had to install something from Microsoft on the NT server. The only thing that I lack now is the email address thing. If it helps, I found an article in the archives that you wrote about the email, but I can't figure out how to use it. The link is: http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=39531 . Thanks for your help. |

Kal Corp,
Just noticed this (I'm a little slow). If you have a way to pull down the email address, yes I still need to know hiw to do it. Right now, I have a link to an article at the top of my forum, telling my users to go into their profile and add it. Most do not do this. |

I have the same issue - NT autologon works like a dream but the email address is not in the users profile. Unfortunatley I have the additional issue that I (as the admin) am the only person who can edit profiles. Users cannot even edit their own profiles :-(
Has anyone got an answer for this? |
