My members can get pretty contentious sometimes, and there is a general feeling that, once you post a message it should not be possible to edit it. Is there a way to accomplish this? I guess I could track down all the 'edit' code and delete it, but then I'd have to do it again every time I upgrade. Are there any mods that do this?

btw: I'd like to maintain the moderator's ability to edit extremely out of order posts if necessary.

Thanks

Sounds like no one has really managed to do it properly. But at least this gives me a hint which files need to be edited to remove the function (I would also want to remove the edit icon).

Most other forum software I've looked at has this as an option in the admin. Seems like it would be a pretty basic feature, no?

Well, I got the (non)delete working fine, and I wasn't interested in the (non)edit but it's just a matter of changing the numbers so you don't have authority and it's done ... not hard at all.
