I have a friend that wants to join up on my forum which has plenty of new members who have joined in the past 2 weeks no problem.

Problem is, when she tries to register, the registration page just continually reloads on her...

She is using the 'Earthlink 5.0' client and I have NEVER had any exposure to it so I don't know how to help her...

I thought at first it may be privacy/cookie problems but that doesn't seem to be the case...

Any clues?

It's because of her firewall. Tell her to turn it off while registering, or you can search for the Referer mod and install it in your forum.

It turns out that it's not only that browser and it's not only when trying to register... a bunch of people are finding that when trying to log in the forum is looping on itself without letting them in...

"It says login successful, click here to continue, but then it just takes me back to login screen?"

That's the common complaint... any ideas?

Hi,

I have the same problems at my forums.

I guess that either we have to convince Symantec to change the way NIS works or how Snitz Forums works.

I wonder what is the easiest way?

or we should convince people that NIS is a totally unnecesary evil, there are plenty of other solutions out there that do not block legitimate information from being sent, plus Snitz forums are not the only sites you will have trouble with, using the HTTP_REFERER variable is a perfectly valid and widely used way of coding.
