Several news sources are reporting that organised groups are planning an attack (beyond DDOS), on 26th August upon the infrastructure of various information technologies.
I first saw this on the 'Full Disclosure' security mailing list earlier in the week, so apologies to those who might have seen it before, or commented (didn't see a thread) :)
Edit: title change, description was bad, read articles to see.

Not sure if I believe it or not. I would think if it was more well known (which makes it more likely to believe) then it would be on the news and on many other websites.
Well not sure if I was the only one or not but any computer that was running 2k crashed on the 26th which was the day there were trying to attack. One of my customers had every 2k server hit with this which restarted the server every 1 minute. Come to find out some 2k patch a couple months ago fixed it. Also all the desktop computers got hit also. The network here in Oklahoma City is still having major problems and have been working with them for about 10 hours a day trying to get everything fixed. Tonight after everyone lefted I started running test's and with only 30 computers on (with no one doing any work on them) it was using half the network and computers keep kep finding virus (norton corp installed and fully updated). Anyone else been having any problems?
Well it seems like we did not have all the old fixes cause we have still been hit hard with worms but we are starting to think it has something to do with someone putting virus out on our PC's because they are upset so we are trying to catch the person in the act.

Wow, sounds pretty serious! (And hard to solve if the perpetrator has physical access, difficult to catch out?)
