Has anyone gotten this mod to work? I guess I'm missing the concept. After installing (basic install) I registered a Guest account per the mod's instructions. I logged on with the Guest account and was able to post in any forum, not just the one's with Anonymous posting enabled. I also tried setting forums to "Members only (hidden)" assuming that would hide non-anonymous forums from the Guest account, but it doesn't. Finally, it appears that anyone who logs in with the Guest account can modify or delete posts by anyone else who posted using the Guest account.
Unless I'm missing something I don't see how this mod is providing a very good Anonymous posting capability. Seems a better approach would be to have an "Anonymous" checkbox on the New Topic form that would post a new topic without recording (or suppressing display of) the user who posted the topic. Since the topic would still be linked to the original user only the original user could modify or delete it. Whether or not Anonymous posting is allowed in a forum could then still use the "Allow anonymous posting" code from this mod, but modified slightly. |
