I did a couple of searches on varying keywords and I don't see anything on this topic other than a Mod (Active Users) that doesn't seem to be available anymore... I can't believe this hasn't come up before...
How can I allow anonymous posting? Can I enable it on a per-forum basis? There are forums where I don't want anonymous posts, and others (venting forums) where people should be able to post anonymously. I tried setting up a user "Anonymous", but anyone using that ID has the ability to edit and delete posts by other users who posted anonymously.
Is there a way to do it with standard Snitz or is there a mod available? (I'm bringing up 3.4.04) |

| Yup. I remembered Snitzbitz and found EZ-Anonymous there. I d/l'd it but haven't had time to install yet. |

| Thanks Davio, yes I'd be interested. I installed EZ Anonymous and it really doesn't provide a true anonymous posting capability. I won't get into a rant on my concerns since I haven't written any mods (those who live in glass houses...) but I'd love to look at something else besides this one. |

I have searched many MODs for anonymous posting. I tested your site http://www.dsilvera.com/forum and found your anonymous MOD is what I need, especially it allowed self-defined UserName for the anonymous. Could you tell me how to download that MOD ? Many thanks. |

Thanks for your interest in my anonymous posting mod. A lot of work went into making this mod.
The mod is available for the 3.4.04 version. I have not been able to upgrade it to the lastest version. If you feel you are capable of installing it (because it isn't easy to install) then I will send you a link to download it.

Hello aid.
I would not recommend beginners to install the mod. It is one of the reasons why I have not made it publicy avilable. Beginners to mod installation and new to VBScript, will have a hard time installing it. I don't have the time or resources to offer that to every member that wants the mod.
I will email you a link to download it. I offer support on my forums if you run into problems. But I won't install it for you.

Some mods might not work with the anonymous mod so you would have to make changes to them to accomodate the mod. |

Poll Mod won't have a problem, since it only tracks members who have already voted in the database. Anonymous users are treated as unregistered users.
The problem comes when mods try to display the nickname of the anonymous user. You will need to modify the mods so it gets the nickname the user supplied when posting as anonymous.
The Split topic mod is one of them. When you go to split a mod, it shows the registered account name instead of the nickname the user supplied. All that is needed to be done is to get the nickname from the database, check if it is empty or not, and display it. |
