Guys... thought of this today, and wanted to know if it was possible.
I would love a way to add a "troll" poster, to a group. Once in that group, the only people that see that persons posts are the Troll and the admins.
That way, they will just think they are being ignored. (Which makes most of them go away)
Possible?

Search is your friend “I was having a mildly paranoid day, mostly due to the fact that the mad priest lady from over the river had taken to nailing weasels to my front door again.” |

I've been working on this for a week now. I've added another user level, so an admin can mark the troll in the users profile in the user level drop down box.
Hiding the user from others was the easy part, I did that with very few code changes. The hard part has been "last posts" and adjusting post counts. I've had to make quite a few code changes in the default, forum and post_info files and add 7 new fields to the forum and topics tables in the db. I've got most of this working correctly now. I hope the only thing I have left to work out, is when a trolls topic is moved to another forum. I spent a few hours yesterday, studying how a topic is moved and I have an idea on how to do this which I'll try when I have time.
I believe this mod has other uses besides trolls. For example, a help forum where hidden members could discuss a users problem in the topic before posting a visible reply.
If everything goes right, I should have this ready by sometime next week, depending on how long it takes me to write the readme. I'll post it in this forum. I'm sure there will be some bugs, so feed back will be appreciated.
ps. If Anyone is interested in just the code for adding the new level and hiding it from normal users, I could probably get it together pretty quick. like I said above, there are very few code changes to do this. |
