Can I put my main snitz database in any subdirectory or is something in the code looking for it to be in a specific place?

You can place it where you like, edit your connection string in your config.asp file to reflect the database path you are using.
That should do it...

The folder you put it in must have read/write permissions.

Can I run the forum from my laptop in order to test it before sending to server??

Not unless your laptop's set up as a server. the only thing you need to change is config.asp so its easy enough to just upload it and test it online.

You could use the laptop if you have Win2K Pro or Win XP Pro installed.
