Since by your own admission you have no idea, you shouldn't make statements which have no basis in truth or fact.

Thanks for all of the comments everybody.
I'm set to talk to the company educational consultant some time next week. God help, him and us both.

Frankly, seahorse, you'll be fine whichever route you choose at this age, and you will have plenty of time to weigh up the options once you're here :) |

Same here: Private you pay, public is free (payed in taxes that is). |

Don't get me started on taxes. I'm going through the whole excercise now trying to figure out if I'd have to pay both UK and UK income tax. Jeez...

As far as I know all 'public schools' have a Headmaster who is in overall charge, 'public school' was something special once upon a time as schooling was mostly done by the clergy, they then began to accept aristocrats as pupils and developed curriculums for teaching.
I went to a Grammar school, that was really a comprehensive but they still got to keep the 'name' somehow (maybe stopping entrance exams?, 80's).
Schooling in the UK as far as I know pretty much sucks, unless it's aim is to get kids to the point they are so bored that they go off and become entrepeneurs.
